Stoffer Flies New Colors Into Gainesville - 4/12/2009

NHRA fans have become accustomed to seeing Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer roaring down the track aboard her trademark blue and white Geico Suzuki. In 2009 Stoffer again proudly displays the Geico name, but this year the color scheme is a striking back and yellow to promote the Geico Powersports brand. Stoffer will debut the new look at the NHRA Gatornationals from Gainesville, Fla., March 12-15.

"The entire brand change has taken place over the last three weeks. It has been a mad dash to get everything ready but I'm really happy with the way it all looks," Stoffer said. "Geico Powersports was designed for boats, RVs, and basically anything that makes you move. It has been a wonderful change and I'm really excited about it."

Stoffer plans to debut a brand new race machine in 2009 that was built in part by longtime NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle crew chief and the newest member of the Geico Powersports team Mark Peiser.

"I'm really excited about the new bike. We utilized some great chassis technology and it has the latest and greatest fuel injection system," Stoffer said. "We learned a lot about fuel injection last year that is going to help us this year. We know where we need to focus now."

In testing Stoffer recorded promising elapsed-times of 6.96 and 6.98 on her new bike. She also made a few laps on her old bike and matched her career best pass of 6.90. Stoffer says the team plans to use both bikes this season.

Stoffer is coming off of her fifth consecutive top ten finish and is aiming to continue the trend this season.

"I want to ride to my absolute best ability and give the team round-after-round wins. They always give me a great bike," Stoffer said.

Stoffer also welcomes Morgan Lucas and his Top Fuel team to the Geico Powersports family in 2009.

"New colors, new bike, new team, the word for 2009 is definitely, new" Stoffer said.

Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of the 2009 sponsors and supporters.
