Stoffer Looking Solidify Top-Ten Standing in Sonoma - 7/23/2009

With four races left before NHRA's Championship Countdown begins, Karen Stoffer is looking to solidify her standing in the Full Throttle Points Series at this weekend's Fram Autolite Nationals, from Sonoma, Calif., July 24-26.

Following the Mac Tools US Nationals on Labor Day weekend, riders ranked in the top-ten will qualify for the playoffs. Currently Stoffer is tenth in the Full Throttle standings, just five points behind No. 9 Shawn Gann, and 9 points behind No. 8 Steve Johnson.

Stoffer is coming off a solid performance at the tour's last race in Denver, Colo., where she qualified ninth.

"Our goal is always to make the most of our four qualifying runs," said Stoffer, who has a career-best run of 6.88. "Denver is a tough place for a Suzuki and I thought my crew did a great job getting us in the program."

Stoffer suffered a frustrating round No. 1 defeat when Johnson beat her to the finish line by a mere .0276 seconds, or approximately 7 feet.

"I'm really eager to get back to the track," Stoffer said. "The motorcycle has shown us a lot of promise and Sonoma is one of my favorite tracks."

Stoffer is hoping Sonoma will be the site of her sixth career national event victory.

Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of her sponsors and supporters.
