Stoffer's Suzuki Quick in Sonoma - 7/27/2009

The GEICO Powersports Pro Stock Motorcycle team gained even more confidence in its Suzuki, after the four-cylinder machine recorded several impressive runs at the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals, from Sonoma, Calif., July 24-26.

In what proved to be a competitive field of 21 riders, Karen Stoffer qualified in the No. 4 spot with a best elapsed-time of 6.96 at 191 mph. The run credited Stoffer with having the second quickest four-cylinder motorcycle in qualifying, just .041 seconds behind the Suzuki of No. 2 qualifier Matt Smith. Harley-Davidson riders Ed Krawiec and Andrew Hines held the No. 1 and No. 3 spots respectively.

In the opening round of eliminations Stoffer's day was cut short when she was upset by No. 13 qualifier Michael Phillips.

Despite the unexpected loss the team remains optimistic, looking ahead to the final three races before the NHRA Championship Countdown begins.

Heading into the next event Stoffer remains ranked tenth in the Full Throttle Series with 386 points.

Next up for Stoffer is the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals from Brainerd, Minn., August 13-16.

Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of her sponsors and supporters.
