With two races remaining in the 2009 NHRA season, GEICO Powersports Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer is aiming to begin a late-season hot streak at this weekend's Las Vegas Nationals.

Stoffer enters the event ranked No. 7 in the Full Throttle point standings, 261 points behind leader Hector Arana. While there doesn't appear to be enough races left for Stoffer to make a run at the championship, there is plenty of time for Stoffer to capture a career-best finish.

Stoffer's highest year-end ranking came in 2006 when she finished sixth. In 2007 and 2008, the first two seasons for NHRA's Countdown to One playoff system, she finished eighth and ninth.

On the strength of a runner-up finish at the NHRA Nationals from Charlotte, NC, Sept. 17-20, Stoffer is only 90 points behind No. 5 Andrew Hines, 94 behind No. 4 Matt Smith, and 96 behind No. 3 Michael Phillips.

"We are going to give it everything we've got over the next two races," Stoffer said. "We've worked really hard this season and got off to a bit of a slow start. We battled backed back and had a pretty good last few months. A career-best finish would mean a lot to us."

Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of her sponsors and supporters.
